Why does the green movement seem to care mostly about the "carbon footprint" and ignore other issues?

I have noticed that the green movement is crazy about reducing the carbon footprint. What is so bad about Carbon dioxide? What about other environmental issues like the oil spill, or air pollution, or water pollution? Can’t the green movement address those issues with more force?

Btw, I don’t believe in man made global warming. It’s a man made hoax.

  1. The green movement does address these issues you mentioned. The green movement is pretty much concerned with all topics that are harmful to the planet and to the animals we share this planet with. But people seem to think that living "green " is some new wave concept. Yes the name of living green is new. But if you look back into history a couple hundred years you will discover that people basically lived what we today call Green.

There weren’t all these cars on the roads like.

People composted there food waste because they could not simple go to the local "super store" and pick up a bag.

People used glass jars and cast iron pots and pans — Not plastic! And they reused those glass jars regularly.

    People were not wasteful.

People took pride in the land and did not litter and pollute the way we are doing today.

The "Industrial Revolution" brought about a lot of change in the lives of people everywhere. The lives we have today is a direct result of it – for better or worse is debatable. True we have luxuries in life that people back then could never even dream of. But when I personally think about it and compare life of today to that life so many years ago I cannot help but think there are some things I could have done without.

Sorry, getting back to the point. Green living is about not wasting, not polluting, it is about conserving energy and water, it is about trying to find alternative energies that do not pollute the water and air that we need so much, It is about helping the animals on this planet, It is about getting back to doing things that are healthier, it is about getting back to a way of living when people were self sufficient and knew how to make household cleaners, soaps, shampoos, How to grow your own food and then how to store it. It is about looking at this planet and really seeing all the beauty and wonder it holds, instead of only seeing something to possess.

Living green is so very much more than just worrying about CO2. I could go on and on but then it is something that I am passionate about. I want to walk outside at night and really see the stars. I want animals to live wild and free in their natural habitats without people continuing to take more and more of that habitat away. I want to step outside my home and really smell the fresh air.

  2. <<Btw, I don’t believe in man made global warming. It’s a man made hoax.>> It’s okay. we knew you didn’t. 97% of climate scientists do think it’s a problem. But, of course, you’re smarter than all of them.

As for other concerns, around here, we’ve gotten county ordinances to require the least toxic weed control, particularly around schools and parks. And action has begun on having the state require it as well.

We do find it interesting that the only thing you see, is that which you deny. Why is that?

  3. Thank you, Ant., for your determination of the threats facing the colony.

Others of us see global climate change as The Greatest Problem. Even attempting to solve it may solve other "green" issues as a side effect. Carbon Dioxide is still almost a trace component of our atmosphere. For an example of what might happen if we have too much, look at a nearby planet, Venus. The danger was forseen over 100 years ago, and it has since been like watching a slow-motion train wreck.

  4. 99% of credible earth and climate scientists believe that human activity has led to rapid, dangerous global climate change. If 99% of all the auto mechanics on earth told you that you needed to replace the engine in your car asap or it will blow up, you’d do it because those guys are the experts on cars. Why don’t you believe the experts when it’s the whole freaking earth that’s blowing up? Do you really think you know better than the incredibly smart and educated people who dedicate their entire lives to studying global climate patterns? Ridiculous.

  5. carbon footprint is all about the issues of being green . yes man did create this.
