Why are people so virulently against environmental conservation or clean energy?
People are acting like the planet is the most insignificant, unimportant thing, and that worrying about keeping it clean is whiny nonsense.
I’ve actually seen comments, regarding the gulf oil spill, suggesting that they just let it gush and saying "who cares, accidents happen"
Shouldn’t people be worried that they will be affected by climate change or pollution? it’ll affect the food chain, businesses, allergens, pests.
Do these people have somewhere else they’re gonna go after earth is unlivable?
Because the general population is selfish and only care about things if it directly affects or benefits them
It’s because people have gotten sick of all the lies and unreasonable demands coming out of the environmental movement that now people will actively do the opposite of what the environmentalist say just to spite them.
The climate change scam has really destroyed any credibility environmentalist had.
It’s true that there are good ideas buried in the environmental movement but when there crowning jewel seem to only be raising taxes and creating new regulations the good ideas will get sunk with the crap.
I think most people equate living green or conservation with a lower quality of life or lower standard of living. Giving something up. And people don’t want to have to give things up, even if they know in the big picture it would be better.

Most people on here have never traveled to places where breathing is painful, they think food comes from stores and are so eager to own the latest chinese built crap like their neighbors they don’t care about anything else.
I rarely hear anyone that says "who cares" but its amazing now many people just don’t care, look at littering people do it so much that it doesn’t mean anything to them anymore. Anyone who thinks that littering up the planet doesn’t matter is usually a very lazy person, its too easy to not worry about that big huge oil spill and say that it will evaporate off (yeah right lol) and that’s what makes people careless, they would rather forget about it than actually doing something about it.
Naturally people like showing that they care, but not when it takes too much out of their life. Its like eating your spinach, people like to brag that they are all healthy because they say they are eating, but in reality they just eat it to impress everyone else. The gulf spill is a big problem and no one wants to fix it, but if they could easily they would. Just remember, no one likes to work, especially if it’s not going to help them any.
I think it is human nature to damage first than try to fix the problem after the fact. I believe that most people are not against clean energy but see it as a inconvenience to make the change and when the government is involved there may be more of a resistance to it. I also believe that we have yet to see the damage that will be caused by removing oil from the earth it is there for a reason and I am sure it’s not to fuel our needs.
I just wanted to add that a lot of the Environmental conservation things are expensive. I myself though am all for it. I like trying to save the Earth and I wish more people did too. I don’t think it has anything to do with laziness though, I think to idea of the earth in trouble hasn’t sunk in for some people yet. Many people still don’t believe in global warming.
They should be doing a lot more about the oil spill. It’s really crazy how much oil they are wasting and how much wildlife and plants are dying. It’s seems they spend too much time talking about what they have done to try to stop instead of finding a definite plan.
