Question: Where does Canada stand on the “eco-friendly” chart of countries?
I know we’re not ranked at the highest, but I need to know where we stand for a project… Are we at the very bottom?

Nationmaster is usually a good site for information like this. It’s not biased to developing countries like the UN is, the rankings are based on pure data.

Canada’s problem is that it’s so stinkin’ cold in much of the country for much of the year. (Those annoying 9-month-long winters….) Result: we have to consume tons of energy to keep from freezing to death. Kind of knocks us way down on the “eco–friendly” top-100 list. Maybe if we could take over the Turks & Caicos Islands (as an MP proposed several years ago) then a lot of us could move there and help get our average energy consumption down – I’d volunteer!
As a green country we are 6th, 13th or 26th- I can’t remember. Point being, we aren’t too bad. But we do contribute a but load of green house gases. Pollution is our middle name.
