When will people realise that climate change will kill us?

According to the film The Age Of Stupid if we do nothing about climate change (that is carrying on like we are now) by 2015 then by 2050 the human race will suffer extinction because of natural disatsers such as Hurricane Katrina and flooding and drought. So why won’t people take any notice? Ignorance will kill us, and turning to God to save you won’t help in the long run.

  1. Considering that the human race has been on Earth for around 100,000 years and has survived ice ages and other warming periods during this time period. I would not listen to the sky is falling propaganda. To see the flooding that is projected by the end of this Century the sea levels would have to start raising a lot faster then the few millimeters a year that they currently are.

  2. Because people are stupid and they tend to disbelieve things that they don’t WANT to believe.

  3. Well people are too worried about other things so the nly time they are going to realize rthat is when it gets to a point that its going to be very dangerous.

  4. The fact that temperatures have not risen much during the past decade and have actually declined the past couple of years puts the whole global warming theory in grave doubt. Only the eco fanatics do not think so.

  5. The human race will not go extinct by 2050. It sounds like the film was not based on real science.

  6. better realise that change is natural
you can only delay but not prevent it.
so top accusing anyone on this count.

  7. I haven’t seen that movie but from what I know about, I’d classify the title of it as ironic.

I am going start using a "Groupthink Factor" for AGW issues. Here is my first one concerning this movie:
"Groupthink Factor – -Stereotyping those who are opposed to the group as weak, evil, disfigured, impotent, or stupid." – Rating (0-10): 10

  8. Well something somewhere will kill all of us, but as far as climate change I doubt it. Climates change all the time and since the people have only kept track of it for the last couple of hundred years, we really don’t know if that’s the way it is. But we will also have other worlds and galaxies to go to.

  9. global warmings fake

  10. people wil only believe when they are six feet under.

  11. climate change is a lie. on march 16, 2009 the EPA tried to release a study. in this study, it proves that the science of global warming is either wrong, or over 10 years out of date. the study was suppressed by the obama administration until the clean air act is passed, because this study would prove the clean air act is useless, and the democrats just want more power over people’s lives and economic well being.

the name of the study was "Proposed NCEE Comments on the Draft Technical Support Document for Endangerment Analysis for Greenhouse Gas Emissions under the Clean Air Act" it is up on the EPA web page somewhere… it was suppressed by the obama administration, so it probably wont be publicly known for a few more years.

here is a link to an electronic version:

you dont need to read the entire thing, just browse the executive summary, and you will get the jist of is.

  12. The kind of climate change the so-called experts are predicting will definitely kill us. But how long have we been predicting weather and climate patterns??? Maybe 50 years? The earth is 4.5 billion years old!

Why are people so confident that our "experts" are right??? I’d say their track-record is minuscule. It’s hard to believe these predictions aren’t partially motivated by money and all the companies that will benefit by a change in direction. After all, I’m sure many of the studies that support global warming are funded by companies that will make tons of money by creating new products.

I’m not saying don’t do anything… but don’t panic! More than likely the world’s not going to end in 50 years. If you’re that confident in scientist’s predictions… you’ve got other problems to deal with ;)

  13. never

  14. I certainly hope that you are not learning this crap in your school! If so, demand that your teachers go into another field….. hotel room maintenance for example.

  15. Don’t worry be happy

  16. Currently with the recession and all that great stuff most of us normal people aren’t putting the weather at the top of our list.

Truth be told we all know about Global Warming and how we’re going to end up killing ourselves with the paths we’re taking, but what can we do about it? Sure we can recycle and grow more trees, but it’s not enough we have to come together as a whole nation,as a whole world; who has time for that?

I don’t know about you but I’m busy trying to not lose my job, finish school and help my parents with bills. Who has time or money to get greener cars or houses?

If we die from Global Warming, too bad, but my family is not going to die of starvation, not on my watch.

  17. Sorry I’ve never heard of the film you refer to, it sounds like a load of rubbish. The high end prediction for future climate from the IPCC is a temp rise of 6 degrees and sea level rise of ~2m, these are the high end predictions if they happen it will be over the next century. Such a temp rise would certainly cause the loss of the arctic and changes in global climate and a rise of several meters would be a major economic problem but is certainly not going to cause our extinction.
Long before the technological age humans were able to live in just about every climate zone of the Earth except Antarctic and a couple of the more severe deserts, from Alaska and the Arctic to the Kalahari and the deserts of Australia or the constant 35c of the Brazilian rain forest. What most deniers are whining about is not extinction but that they might be forced to change their driving habits or worse yet the type of car they drive. These sort of people who also seem to like to reference Malthus and claim how wrong he was should be forced to spend some time in some of the slums of the world in places like Bangladesh, Africa, South America and India (just to mention a few) all these place have the same thing in common starvation, poverty overcrowding and short life expectancy, just the things Malthus was talking about. A week or two in one of these places might give a few of the deniers on this sight a taste of the real world instead of believing the rubbish they read in blogs.
