What is the best way to recycle old tattered clothes that turned into rags?
I have turned old worn out and tattered clothes into rags however I have an over abundance of these clothes and would like to Know what to do with them instead of throwing them in the trash.
you can if you are handy make them unto quilts by cutting them to the same size and sewing them together and then laying them on a backing with batting in between the backing and the top. or you can find out from your church or any church if them would like them as many churches use old clothing for quilts to send to other countries.
You could try posting on to http://uk.freecycle.org as some people may want them as rags or check:

You could also check with your local authority to see what recycling scheme they operate for unwearable textiles.
I think some Craftswomen in Appalachia tear cotton rags into strips and make braided rugs for them.

Cotton and other natural materials will compost in a good compost pile.
or… Use them as packing materials for holiday packages
