In order to create energy for heating, cooling buildings or to produce electricity, we have to use gas, diesel, coal, water and other natural resources.
We want to conserve energy and use our resources wisely because once you run out, you have to get those resources from somewhere else. That is why the middle east is so important. North American demand for oil exceeds our production so we have become dependent on others.

You have heard of global warming and our goals to reduce emissions? We use coal for electricity generation because of convenience and cost.
