  1. They could do that, but when it comes to intensive methods of growing veg, I think the tower block systems will be more economical. They are high rise buildings, using alternative energies to power them 100%. They need no windows, so almost all of the sun facing sides, can be used to harness solar energy. The roof can be used to collect water for crop growth. Inside, there is a permanent lighting system, to encourage growth, automated watering systems and climate control. A crop that would grow outside, in say twenty weeks, will possibly grow in a greenhouse in 10 weeks, but will definitely grow in the tower block system in just six weeks. It is a system that can be used every day of the year, and one tower, measuring 100 meters square at the base, and twenty stories, can produce more food than the greenhouse that you suggest, and at a lower cost. also, the heat from the lower part of the building, is vented to higher levels so that the crops which require more heat are catered for with no extra cost. Because of this system, almost 24 hours a day can be used to grow, instead of the greenhouse limitation of natural lighting. I think building a greenhouse so large, taking so much space, is a massive waste of land and of growing potential…
