What are the Cons of Menthol as an alternative fuel?

I am in Debate and need this as one of my points, so if anyone could help find me sites and/or sources for information it would be greatly appreciated!
Sorry, it’s Methanol

  1. As far as I know, menthol can’t be used as a fuel.
Methanol, however, can be. Its main problems are its infinite water solubility (meaning that unlike gasoline/oil, it would be extremely difficult to transport and easy to be tainted should it become exposed to water. Water is used to flush out oil pipelines since nonpolar oil floats on water, but water mixes with ethanol), it’s relatively low energy output per unit volume (partly because of the oxygen atom in the CH3OH molecule), and its ability to corrode or react with some metals.

  2. -Highly volatile
    -Stinky
    -20%-30% more is needed.

  3. it is very hygroscopic which means it pull water from air and the water it absorbs will separate out as temperatures change, the water will oxidize normal carbon steel at a very, very high rate. This means all tanks must be made from very expensive alloys.

Methanol is normally made from natural gas, so it’s a petroleum based product which must be imported to the US. It can be made from wood fibers, but the process is slow and expensive
