What are the arguments for and against a charity called conservation international?
I decided to put the question in environment rather than the home work section because I thought you might know a bit more about it.
So at school im doing a project on giant pandas. There is a charity called conservation international who protect them in China. What are the arguments for and against the conservation of giant pandas.
Thanks for helping : )
The question you asked in your title line is different than the one below, where an answer amounts to doing your homework for you. That said, here goes:
Their mission statement reads, "We believe that the Earth’s natural heritage must be maintained if future generations are to thrive spiritually, culturally and economically." That’s a noble goal, and CI, founded in 1987, remains in the forefront of conservation efforts worldwide. As for the argument for saving pandas, Dr. Lu Zhi observes, "Pandas are a flagship species … Saving the panda tests our determination. If we can’t protect the panda, then what chance do all the other threatened species have?”
The CI site also notes that the plight of the panda also symbolizes larger conservation issues. Simply said, it’s a matter of maintaining biodiversity; within the pandas’ habitat in China, nearly 40 percent of all mammal species are threatened. That’s a travesty, and kudos to CI for trying to help with the situation.
Good luck with your project.
