What are some ways california is going green?

In what have Californians changed to make our environments better & healthier? Or what can we do to change things for the better of our environment?

We have tried to enact cleaner air and water regulations, but the federal government keeps shutting us down. We passed a law that required better fuel efficiency and fewer car emissions, which resulted in a couple great electric cars, but the auto makers and oil companies bought a candidate and the law got repealed. We have successfully passed laws to reduce emissions from electricity production, which funds many clean energy programs. We have banned coal plants from the state and the laws will eventually stop energy produced from coal to be sold in CA. We have funded our recycling programs and many cities not only meet state mandates, but exceed them. In my county we divert over 68% of our waste to be recycled and San Francisco is on target to achieve a zero waste city. Silicon Valley is now a hub for clean energy and alternate fuels research. We have a program to get 1 million solar pv systems on roofs by 2018. We have achieved much but still have miles to go.
