What will environmentalists do if the climate bill now being debated is defeated?

Posted in Green Q&A | 4 comments

Will they accept this as the "will of the people" or will they continue to quibble about this. Whether the bill ever gets to the senate bill is very much an open issue. The 50 Blue Dog Democrats have stated that they will only vote for a bill which supports both coal and nuclear. Many more liberal democrats have indicated that they will vote against a bill that contains nuclear and support for coal. Next week the real fireworks will start. Perhaps we will see more of the "other side" of the science argument next week.

What exactly is the meaning of this comment from a climate change study published in Nature?

Posted in Green Q&A | 4 comments

The comment is this: "These findings might seem to contradict the general notion of aerosol particles as cooling agents in the global climate system. " Conservatives have been quoting this statement by way of suggesting blame for global warming be transferred to dung burning Asia from industrial corporate America. But the quote speaks of the "cooling" of aerosol, not any warming. Is that in effect the same or is this quote being misused? Here’s a link and the sentence is in the second to last paragraph: http://www.npg.nature.com/nature/journal/v448/n7153/full/448541a.html

I want to influence the "Go Green" concept at my school. How should I do this?

Posted in Green Q&A | 9 comments

Of course we have paper recycling, but I’m about the only person who uses it, okay, more people than me uses it, but the majority of my class population doesn’t. What are some ways I can influence or inspire the "Go Green" concept throughout my school?

Thanks for your input!

What are some ways in which a school can "go green"?

Posted in Green Q&A | 8 comments

I’m one of the heads of the environment action commitee at my high school, and we’re currently working on a proposition in which we have plans on how to use a substantial amount of funding in an effort for our school to be more eco-friendly.

Our proposition is still in the "hanger bay" stage if you know what I mean, so I am currently looking for a wide array of opinions and ideas.

All thoughts welcome! Thanks in advance.

Why are people so virulently against environmental conservation or clean energy?

Posted in Green Q&A | 7 comments

People are acting like the planet is the most insignificant, unimportant thing, and that worrying about keeping it clean is whiny nonsense.

I’ve actually seen comments, regarding the gulf oil spill, suggesting that they just let it gush and saying "who cares, accidents happen"

Shouldn’t people be worried that they will be affected by climate change or pollution? it’ll affect the food chain, businesses, allergens, pests.

Do these people have somewhere else they’re gonna go after earth is unlivable?
