yellow, green and blue recycling bin. what should go in which so kids will remember?

Posted in Green Q&A | 2 comments

I just got a yellow, blue and green separated bins for recycling. One for paper. One for aluminum and glass together (I will separate at the city place) and one for plastics. I know this is kind of stupid, but when I teach to kids about it I want to be able to reference why each category of recyclable would go with that color, but I can’t really think of any way to relate it. Is there supposed to be a certain way that it goes? Thanks for your help.

What is your opinion on global warming, and what are you doing to go green?

I am doing whatever I can do to go green. In fact, my girl scout troop did a badge for this. We collected a bunch of plastics and we turn them in to some random company to make a toy that they were going to going to give to charity! I just want to see some new ideas. So post an answer about what you do to go green and what you think about global warming!

If you are going to post something negative, don’t post anything at all.

How can I recycle plastic food containers other than bottles?

Posted in Green Q&A | 5 comments

Our kerbside recycling collects plastic bottles but won’t take any other plastics. We recycle or compost almost all other waste and we collect our plastic packaging – films, food containers, yoghurt pots, blister packs, etc. Anybody know how and where I can recycle this stuff because my garage is filling up with it!

We recycle or compost almost all other waste and we collect our plastic packaging – films, food containers, yoghurt pots, blister packs, etc. Anybody know how and where I can recycle this stuff because my garage is filling up with it! I have researched the available channels extensively and have asked my local authority what to do with these plastics but they say that they simply cannot recycle them at present.

I live in England and am looking for a solution that is available here in UK.
