Why do people associate conservatives with denying climate change?

In Denmark, the right wing government is spending massive amounts of money to fight climate change!

Do recycling companies make money off of what they recycle? And how much?

Most people have to pay for recycling service, so they get money there. But they also sell the recyclables right? Is it fair that people have to pay to try to do something good? And if the recycling companies do make money on what is recycled then why can’t recycling be free… if it was free then more people would recycle and the companies would make even more money.

Car with good mileage or alternative fuel

I’m looking for a new car, but don’t want to spend money on all of the gas, so are there any very good Hybrid vehicles or cars that can run on alternative fuels for a decent price?

What's a good resource for information about solar energy and DIY solar projects?

I’m looking to solar power my home and don’t want to spend a lot of money, I want to do everything myself and need a good guide.

Why do energy companies promote energy conservation and efficiency?

My gas company gave me a free energy audit of my home, and offers generous rebates to install insulation and other energy saving products. I don’t understand why they do this. If I use less gas, they make less money. Why are they doing these things?
By the way, I won’t believe any answers that say "it’s the right thing to do", or "they want to be green". I don’t buy that. Profit drives almost all business decisions, and this doesn’t seem profitable to me.

How is "green" or "clean" electrecity provided?

This may be a dumb questions, but I never understood who the electric provider can service some who pays for regular electricity and also serve someone who pays for wind power electricity if they both use the same power lines. I am skeptical about all the "green" movement going on right now. I believe there another scheme from corporate America to increase profits. Before you judge me, I do believe in taking care of our planet and being responsible about it. But there are a few things I just think they are a scheme like the carbon dioxide offset fee. How does some paying money to some corporation is going to offset carbon dioxide?

How do I reduce my energy bill going green?

I’ve thought about using a butane grill but i’m not sure about the smell and off-gassing. I have also thought about using a table top battery powered lamp but I think I would go through the batteries to quick.

Anyone have any suggestions? I already use cfl and led bulbs and my heat is as low as I can stand. I do not have a lot of money at all.
