How would you personally like to see the issue of climate change being addressed?
If you were to be tasked with implementing a package of measures designed to address the issue of climate change, what procedures would you put in place?
Perhaps you would consider strategies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, or maybe you consider that such measures are unnecessary or would be ineffective.
Would you like to see strategies adopted that would attempt to intervene with the mechanisms leading to climate change, such as the physical extraction of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere or the implementation of schemes designed to reduce the amount of heat being received from the Sun.
Read MoreWhat is the current alternative explanation to manmade global warming?
The proponents of manmade global warming have consistently stated it’s because of greenhouse gases.
To counter this claim skeptics have provided alternative explanations but they’re forever changing. Recent explanations have included cosmic rays, the oceans, increased solar output, Pacific decadal oscillation, blackbody radiation etc. Could someone please let me know what the current explanation favoured by the skeptics is?
Each of the many explanations is, in it’s own right, claimed to account for the recent warming and thus prove human activity isn’t responsible. Assuming the skeptics are correct and they’re not just coming up with anything that might sound plausible, shouldn’t the planet be warming many times faster than it is?
RON C: Another good answer but again, key points are omitted. Your logic and reasoning are sound but it doesn’t ‘add up’. There are several skeptics who claim that all the current warming can be attributed to alternative factors and in many cases a single factor is cited as being the sole cause of the current warming. If these skeptics were correct then there would be many factors each responsible for the same level of warming that humans are supposed to be responsible for. It’s true that doubling the forcings doesn’t double the temperature rise but when equated, if the skeptics are correct with all their different explanations, then the world should be warming at least 7 times as fast as it is now (and possibly as much as 20 times as fast).
What exactly is global warming, and what is it doing?
Alright, I’ve just gotten interested in global warming but i was wonderin, what exactly is it?
Is the earth just getting warmer, or is it gettein colder in some places too? How is it being caused? I know its something about the greenhouse gases and all that jazz but i want to know all the facts!
Thanks so much!
Oh- and most imporantly, what can i do to help?!
Read MoreWhere is a published thermodynamic model for climate change with boundary conditions and equations?
Hearing about climate change predictions is unavoidable, but after about 3 hours of looking on the internet, I haven’t been able to find a published model. Presumably, this would be a 1st law, controlled volume model, which addresses emmissivity, absorptivity, their relationship to greenhouse gases, and the methodology of measuring current mean earth temperature as well as future temperature change. Any published model would be nice though. For all the people talking about these models, I’d think someone would have published it somewhere obvious.
Any help is appreciated.
Read MoreIs this an unexplored solution to energy conservation?
Rather than pour all our money into energy exploration, new energy sources, technology, etc.; is it cheaper to make us all able to see in the dark? We have night vision technology, and medical and genetic technology has increased substantially over the past few years. Has anyone done any experimentation with lab rats to see if they can be altered to be able to see in the dark? Would this be cost effective if, rather than light the planet, we could get everyone to see in the dark. Yes, this sounds ridiculous, but the goals required to achieve energy conservation, and reduce greenhouse gases are pretty much in the air still. Is this probable?
