What’s the future of solar energy and wind energy in China?

Should China set up solar thermal farms in the Gobi desert? I believe renewable energy can help clean up China’s dirty skies. What do you think?

In what ways is the U.S. working toward an alternative fuel source?

A recent article I read said that India and China are making monumentous steps towards using wind power, an 47% increase in India and 65% in china from their previous year. While coal is still the main form of energy for these countries, they are making big investments in alternative energy.

I am wondering if the U.S. is making any major headway in alternative energy, especially since we are one of the top countries that consume coal. Would be nice if you can also link your statistics.

Does anyone else also think that the hybrid cars on the market are only a short term solution? Should it only be considered a transitional phase to fully electrical cars?
Just curious also, are oil companies buying out people that are developing alternative energy tech? Are they developing them after they buy them? Sources please, I dont like to blame without having hard facts.

Why do people think nothing is being done in the USA to grduce green house gasses?

Reducing green house gasses is a multibillion dollar business in the USA. From government subsidizes to power corporations to build more wind towers, to venture capitalist investing billions into new technology, to corporations upgrading old equipment to newer technology that reduces power consumption while making a better and more consistent product, the USA is taking the lead in reducing co2 emissions.

The effects are evident. Not long ago, the USA dropped off the list of top polluters. Now China is the leader of green house gas production. This was done from using new technology that was developed over the years.

So why do people insist that the USA is "doing nothing" to reduce ghg’s? Is it because we as Americans put more faith in individuals to take action while true believers demand that the government use it’s full force to make people do what they think is best?

What is Australias political/social role in addressing climate change in the asia pacific region?

Where can I recycle old electronics, and have it all be recycle?

Many companies that recycle old electronics are not truthful. They export it to China, and other foreign countries. There, it is not recycled, and mostly burned. Where can I recycle old electronics, and know that 100% of it is being recycled.

Even if humans only contribute a portion to climate change, is it worth it to do what we can ?

Many European countries are taking climate change quite seriously. Some countries, such as China, present a problem, although there are pro-green public demonstrations there.
There are natural climate cycles.
Should we change our lifestyles and do what we can, in your opinion?
Whatever your beliefs, please keep it courteous.
People of different opinions are serious and well meaning.
