Does owning a reflective colored car help the environment?
It occurred to me the other day that owning a white or reflective silver car might actually be better for the environment than a darker color of car. Because of global warming there is less reflective mass with the melting of the glaciers and polar caps. If the billions of people that drove all drove reflective colored cars would this not help to at least alleviated some of the warming?
I like your idea about reflective asphalt which makes me think you are a little conflicted about my idea of reflective colored cars.
I liked your answer though I do think there are more than a 100 million cars. I would think there are billions. Albeit still not enough I think every bit helps.
Why do people think nothing is being done in the USA to grduce green house gasses?
Reducing green house gasses is a multibillion dollar business in the USA. From government subsidizes to power corporations to build more wind towers, to venture capitalist investing billions into new technology, to corporations upgrading old equipment to newer technology that reduces power consumption while making a better and more consistent product, the USA is taking the lead in reducing co2 emissions.
The effects are evident. Not long ago, the USA dropped off the list of top polluters. Now China is the leader of green house gas production. This was done from using new technology that was developed over the years.
So why do people insist that the USA is "doing nothing" to reduce ghg’s? Is it because we as Americans put more faith in individuals to take action while true believers demand that the government use it’s full force to make people do what they think is best?
Read MoreWhy do people claim they know how to stop climate change?
Do they not realize that climate change is a naturally occuring phenomenon? Now after all those times of climate changing over and over again, all of a sudden they know how to stop climate change and all we have to do is to shovel billions of $$$ to other countries? This stuff sounds like a wealth redistribiution scam to me.
What do we really know about climate change anyway?
It’s much better to work to limit pollution than to go try to stop something that cannot be stopped in the first place.
