Is there any subjects i can take at uni that relate to conservation and charity work like greenpeace etc?

i’ve recently realized that what i what i want to do is get out into the world and help, save the planet, help people in disadvantaged people in poorer countries and also help animals..
i’ve always been passionate about these subjects and i’ve realized all i will ever want to do is travel and do these things.

can anyone tell also anything they know about getting involved and any organizations that might need my help?

thank you so much

  1. Useful subjects:

Environmental Studies (may appear as Ecology, Forestry, etc.): learn how the environment works.
Biology and Botany: learn about plants and animals
Weather/Meteorology: you’ll be out in it, so know what to expect.
Political Science: study how governments work, because most of them will get in your way.
    Sociology/Anthropology: understand people and societies.
Comparative Literature: understand other people’s great reads.
First Aid: just because you’re saving it doesn’t make the environment your friend; you’ll get scraped up, so know how to cope.

You can find some version of those at most universities. You probably won’t find the following; get this training from activist organizations:
Nonviolent Resistance: how to survive without hitting back.
Activist History & Techniques: know your background and options.
Consensus & Negotiation: make good decisions without making enemies.
Wilderness Skills: environmental activists can’t always stay in hotels; know how to hike, camp, climb, and survive.

  2. you are thinking ahead and that is good. but that is priority #2 in my book
