Is it worth it for me to recycle cardboard?

The only way I could recycle cardboard is if I saved it up and drove 7 miles down to a recycling center to drop it off. Obviously, it’s not that I’m too lazy, but does the good that the recycling does offset the bad does that the driving does? I feel like if I’m just putting extra CO2 into the air by driving somewhere I normally wouldn’t, then no good is being done. Is it?

  1. I agree that it may not be worth the trouble, but after I recycle, I feel like I’ve contributed to the health of the planet. The good feeling inside is worth the trouble.

  2. There’s other ways to get there. Bike would be nice. Or you could by a recycle bin for the city to pick up.

  3. What do u have to lose? Your gonna throw it away anyway? Why not put it in a useful place, right?

  4. Yes, its worth recycling cardboard. Re-using resources is a smart thing to do. Dont worry about co2 in the atmosphere. Global warming is a myth.

  5. The question would be different if your community provided collection places to store cardboard and other recylables to be collected periodically, and transported as significant truckloads.

It is bad recycling economy to transport small amounts of recyclables long distances. And cars are not a wise choice for that transportation.
Do something to organize efficient recycling rather than waste effort doing it inefficiently.

  6. well this is kindof common sense but: Yes, recycling is always worth it. Why? Because you have to make it worth it. Save it all up for a while, then pile it in your car and schedule some errands that you have to do in the same area around the time your gonna drop off the cardboard. You will get stuff done so you wont be wasting the trip.

  7. I suggest doing it on your way somewhere. You could also try to get your trash service to do recyclables. Maybe even go to city council meetings and request that the service be mandated as part of the trash service.

  8. Don’t worry about the CO2….take the cardboard to the recycling center.

    Mother Earth thanks you…

  9. It’s not worth it because your polluting more than recycling.

  10. Well if you want to stop global warming it makes a difference to recycle cardboard. So that question is up to you, do you or do you not want to stop global warming?

  11. yes your saving trees..

  12. well, if it’s worth seeing the earth thank you for it, then yes

that’s if you don’t mind contributing another piece of earth to her

  13. MAKE A STEAM POWERED GENERATOR AND USE THE CARDBOARD AS FUEL

  14. I agree with Heather. Personally I usually save my cardboard, it really comes in handy when a friend moves or for making signs for yard sales or one of the many groups I volunteer for. The smaller boxes are perfect for gift giving and if it ever gets wet, I just toss it in the compost pile. I even use 2 pieces back to back as a "cork board". I glue fabric scraps all around the edges and when it’s no longer useful, I compost it and make another.
