Is it safe for animals & the environment if I hang a popcorn tinsel outside for them?

I wanted to make a classic popcorn tinsel for my bird friends to eat on the holidays. But then I thought maybe, just like rice at a wedding, it is actually unsafe for critters/the environment to do that.
So, is it safe? Or is it just a bad idea altogether?

  1. Its safe, unlike rice. Just be sure to tie the end to something so the string doesnt blow away. Popcorn is ok if that what you want to feed them lol. Bread works too.
