is alternative fuel better for our environment than oil?

please tell me, and add a news article if you can thanks

  1. Depends on the alternative fuel and how it’s made.

Ethanol from corn is pretty bad. It uses a lot of land, fertilisers and energy to process. It drives up world food prices and produces lots of air pollution[1].

We could power cars with electricity that can be generated by efficient gas power stations, coal with carbon capture & storage, renewables and nuclear and this is almost certainly better than burning petrol or diesel in engines.

You can harness this energy by running cars on compressed air, hydrogen or batteries.

The only emissions from a compressed air car is air, and from a hydrogen car it’s water vapour. Battery cars don’t produce any air pollution (although the production and disposal of batteries may be polluting if not handled correctly).

There are alternative fuels that are much better for our environment than oil, but there are some that aren’t.

  2. i think so..less polluting for the environment

  3. Yes, fossil fuels are a very limited resource.

The war against alternative fuels, such as alcohol and hemp oil. Was started in the 1920′s with the prohibition of alcohol being financed by Standard Oil.

  4. Oh yeah, ethanol is more cost effective than oil, so go for it!! Global warming is a choice, not an option, like going poops.

  5. as long as there is one buck to take out of petrol and there are dumbs willed to pay for that, there will not be any.
There is a reason or many why none of this systems on the market pay off, they all cost more then what you save and don’t worry, those who make them are the same then thos who sell you the black gold.
So, those are just a few reasons, there are many others but think about one thing ….
    Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi …..
and you contribute to it and they find just any way not to let you step off the train, don’t worry.

  6. In addition if Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells are used then ethanol has a better range… Infact ethanol would be burnt with high efficiency…
In conlusion: Green fuels help environment and some of them would can be even more performant !!!

  7. It might depend on the fuel you r using.

  8. Some are and some are not. Just google it and get many articles

  9. Depends on what type of alternatie fuel you’re talking about- there isn’t just one type. Some are better, some worse and all have their benefits and setbacks.

  10. You must go back to the start with any fuel. Oil, coal and gas are just ‘laying around’. To produce alcohol you have to grow a crop, ferment it and then distill it to be pure enough to burn in an engine. All energy users – from which source? So far as electricity is concerned you have to generate it – how? Nuclear? – charge a battery which is wasteful – difficult to make without pollution – or hydrolyse water and throw away half the energy in the oxygen which is thrown away. Much of the electricity needed is wasted in either of these cases. Hydrogen is DANGEROUS – look at pictures of the Hindenburg in flames.
    Go Back, Go Back!
Oil is cheap but highly taxed. It is a ‘compact’ form of energy. So long as it is available it will be used,
