  1. Fusion’s already been picked…

So I’m gonna go with solid state heat pumps, which use changes in the electric polarisation or magnetisation of a material to transfer heat.

They could offer ‘coefficients of performance’ of 10 or more. For every Joule of electricity you put in, you transfer 10 units of heat. This depends on temperature, but it’s a good figure to think about.

Fridges and computer cooling based on it would be small, silent, and use significantly less electricity. Initial models use 40% less, but this will get better – theoretically it’s 80-90% less.

All heating, air conditioning and hot water could be provided like this, using 60-90% less energy than it does at the moment.

In the long term, this could be the biggest single way to cut energy use. But we might not be able to iron out the technical problems, it might never happen (just like fusion) :(

  2. Solar panal

  3. hands down, fusion power.

  4. Use Shaklee cleaning products throughout your home and get rid of all others

  5. Everything exiting on the earth close to our life around nature; Windmill, Solar power, Water energy, Compost, etc.
Neither or not, shouldn’t we dip into easy-going ideas to convalesce on earth environment. The much more money investing in the kind of utilization, the more natural environment corroded around world. I wish we could recognize what enable us to coexist with each other.

  6. There is this thing, I think it’s called a vampire plug/socket, it is like an adapter, you plug it into a wall then put in another plug (e.g. a TV) and it sucks (why it’s called a Vampire plug) in all of the energy that is not being used. So, you can leave your TV on standby for as long as you want, then once you turn it on the TV it runs on it’s own used energy. It saves loads of money and is great for the environment!

  7. Not so much a technology, more a way of life

One of the best things we can do to reduce the resources we use to live is to stop eating animal derived products, especially meat

It’s easy, fun, cheaper and healthy

Thanks for a good question {:o)
