I have to disagree with you, Roadkill. Environmentalism is about creating a better world for us all. The cost of doing something early on is dwarfed by the costs if no action is taken. I believe you should stress that it will help by attracting tourism, reducing health costs, reducing future costs -economical and in human lives. Show the benefits.
