I am trying to keep a "green" apartment. How should I dispose of garbage, not using platic bags?

I have been using plastic bags to clean out my cat’s litter box, but I don’t want to contribute to pollution.

  1. compost!

here’s a handy little trash can – composter thing that can help you do it.. and its really easy too!

then, you can even use the stuff that comes out as fertilizer/soil for your garden. :)

  2. "Yesterdays’ News" kitty litter is flushable. Not all kitty litter is flushable. However, be aware that this litter doesn’t do a great job at hiding odor. You would need to take care of this every day or two. Then when you use the toilet, dont flush, clean the catbox, then flush. That way you don’t waste water.
The only other option would be to purchase lunch sacs, and dispose of the waste that way.

  3. Buy a trashcan and lid you can leave outside for trash pickup, or empty your trashcan directly into a dumpster. Don’t line it with plastic. You’ll have to rinse it out every time, but you’ll be keeping a lot of plastic out of the landfill. You can switch to paper bags for your cat’s business. It doesn’t hold the smell as good as plastic, but it’s greener. Or teach your cat to go in the toilet! http://www.karawynn.net/mishacat/toilet.html

  4. Buy a pooper scooper and dump the poo down the toilet, voila!

  5. put your cats "poo" outside, in the flowers, or bury it. don’t flush it down the toilet, that uses more energy and resources + water than it did to make the plastic bag!

  6. Just bury it!!!

  7. 1) Use a paper bag
    2) There are bio-degradable plastic bags that are made to decompost
    3) Use a container that you can wash (do not line it with anything, just dump the garbage in.
