How is unplugging our appliances, turning off the lights save the environment?
I don’t get how it saves the environment. The only thing it saves is money.
I don’t get how it saves the environment. The only thing it saves is money.
Appliances and lights are powered by energy coming mostly from the burning of fossil fuel. Fossil fuels are exhaustible though renewable, it would take millions of years to replenish the depleted supply. It is estimated that the amount of available fossil fuel from all over the world to date, if my memory serves me right, will be depleted in the next 40-50 years. Thus, concerned scientists from all over the world has brought out the best of science to come-up with a renewable source of energy from the sun, winds, tides, geothermal and hydrothermal sources, among others.
Millions of households and industries worldwide use electricity for their daily routine and operation, thus a great amount of energy has to be generated to meet the worldwide demand which in turn requires a large volume of fossil fuel. As fossil fuel got burnt, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere adding into the long standing problems on greenhouse gases in the environment which is the root cause of global warming and the eventual erratic changes in the global climatic conditions.
The concerted action of the world, though how little it may be, like that of turning off the lights and appliances when not necessary as in when you leave the house or your workplace, would contribute much to saving the environment from further degradation brought about by the excessive greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

You use fire and the burning of wood and coal to produce energy, and if you use less energy less things are burnt which saves the environment. I think
If it turns on by a button and not a switch, the button must be powered somehow in order to work.
Also if it has lights that stay on when you have it turned off.
This little bit of power adds up more than you think.
it saves money, indeed…you do economize by turning appliances and lights off…but it also may help protect the environment…
you save electricity, which is a type of energy…and it’s usually produced by burning fossil fuel (such as coal, natural gas etc…) these types of fuel are polluting the environment, poisoning it…and killing it…
so, by turning the switch off on your appliances, you may help save the planet…which is a good thing…
Remember back to school… how power plants worked? Something needs to be burned to make electricity. This is usually fossil fuels such as coal. What causes global warming? Yah, the burning of fossil fuels.
However, one isn’t really saving the environment when they do this. Bigger changes in industry and lifestyles need to change around the world need to change for this to really happen. However, it needs to start somewhere, ite?
