How has global warming become a character in movies not an actual character that is?

Movies have a long history of taking the issue of the day and exaggerating it to sell seats to the general public whether it was evil Germans in the 40s evil Russians in the 50s evil Vietnamese in the 70s today global warming is an issue and there are a number of Hollywood movies playing on that to "The Day After Tomorrow" being the main example while there were a few elements of truth most of it was over the top nonsense and I’m sure the soon to be released 2012 will be more of the same (but bigger and louder) these are meant to be fun anyone who takes them seriously or tries to use them as part of the debate on global warming is wound a little to tight.

The theory is like the Russian gangster in Snatch – it just won’t die no matter how many holes you shoot through it.

well, since it is a big problem in our world today, Movie producers believe that it is important to show viewers how drastic a problem may be……global warming. It kind of gives another view point to people who watch it.
It is a character who appears to be friendly and knowledgeable, but lurking just under the surface is doubt and deception. No one quite knows what he will do, but everyone is watching. Holy crap, did I just describe global warming or Barry Soetoro?

people apparently like scary movies but they get tired of the same old theme’s after a while.
movie makers keep making the same scary disaster movies but change the theme to whatever irrational end of the world fad is current.
in the 50′s & 60′s it was U.F.O.’s & alien invaders
in the 70′s & 80′s it was nuclear accidents & monsters created by nuclear pollution.
in the 80′s & 90′s global pandemics from germs & microbes were pretty popular.
since global warming is the current irrational end of the world fad its only natural for movie makers to use it as a theme for the same old boring movies.
the special effects keep on getting better all the time though.
