How do you recycle compact flourescents?

Flourescent lights reduce energy costs by about 75%. That’s great, but they’re hazardous waste. What do you do with them?
Also, batteries, what do you do with batteries?

  1. Call your county offices. They usually can tell you where to go in your county to dispose of batteries, paint, and fluorescent bulbs. some hardware stores dispose of fluorescent bulbs.

  2. Put them in a bag and throw them in the trash.

  3. i usuallly just throw them away, i dont drive and dont have the dump within walking distance so if the councils ect think we should be making even more work for ourselves in diposing of them, think again. they shouldnt be made out of dangerous stuff anyway, thats more of an enviromental hazard than normal bulbs and to our health too.

  4. Just like everything, I throw it in the trash. If you think people are going to dispose of these things differently, and have to pay extra to do it, your mistaken.

  5. I live in Newport, and at Telford & Wrekin recycling points, we hand batteries into the staff.
