How do I recycle plastic bottles?

I live in an apartment, south Chicago. I see the bins by homes & businesses, how do I get one? I called the "City Clerk"- she connected me to the press one…press two spiel, I ended up leaving a message with "Melissa" who never called me back. I called Public Works, they didn’t know either. Anyone know where I can get information on how to recycle?

  1. Do you ever see a garbage or recycling truck around town at all when doing your day-to-day activities? If so, get the name on the side of the truck and do some research on the company to see if they pick up recycleables. If they do, call them up and ask if they can pick up your plastic bottles on their route. Or you can ask your neighbors if they recycle and who they contacted to start recycling.

If you aren’t able to do any of that, you can always put your plastic bottles in someone else’s recycling bin. Or ask your land lord about it.

  2. Ours are paid through our trash pick up. If not contact your Senator and ask them how they support the Better Bottle Bill which pays for plastic bottles to be turned in, kept off the side of the road, out of the landfill, and out of the Ocean!

they have info on that group about the Better Bottle Bill

  3. Call the office of Mayor Richard M. Daley. Someone there should be able to help with your noble cause. Keep searching until you find your answer. Good luck.
