How can I recycle my old batteries and ink cartridges?

I have a wireless mouse and it takes batteries but after I use the batteries I don’t know what to do with them same thing with the ink. I don’t want to just throw them out so what should I do?

  1. Your local waste department should have a Household Hazardous Waste Program that will take them and most have the drop off information on their website.

  2. Have you ever thought about using rechargeable batteries.Would save you pounds and is better for the environment.

  3. Call or stop by your nearest PetsMart. I live in Arlington TX and our PetsMart has a display near the door that you pick up the postage paid bag and drop your cartridges in.

Check it out – homeless animals will benefit!

  4. Hello.
Used printer cartridges / Inkjets (Not Epson) / lasers / mobile phones. These are recycled and proceeds go to EACH (East Anglia Children Hospices). I am based in Halstead but am happy to collect from you or your place of business. I am also happy to leave an ‘EACH’ box for you to keep the cartridges ready for collection. I look forward to hearing from you…..Julie :)

  5. Some stores will take ink cartridges and recycle them. Also, some charities collect them, so you can do two good things at once by finding a local charity and donating them.

For the mouse, I would buy a battery charger and rechargeable batteries and use those.

  6. Hi! Not sure about the batteries. The old ink cartridges you can take to Office Depot and they give you a ream of paper for each cartridge you turn in !! :0) That is how I keep my self in paper, lol.

  7. Batteries can be placed in a ziplock bag and put in your recycle bin.

Staples will recyle printer Ink cartridges and give you $3/cartridge for future purchase. You will probably need to enroll in the Staples Rewards Program b/c they issue the credit as "reward dollars". It makes for great savings on purchasing cartridges!

  8. Most office supply stores will take your ink cartridges you may even get a few $ for them, also many schools recycle them for a fundraiser.

Batteries are hazardous waste, so they need to be disposed of properly, In my area you can find drop off containers in many stores. It is worth the money to get rechargable batteries, you will save money in the long run and you won’t be putting hazardous materials in a landfill.

go to http://www.eath911.org to locate local hazardous waste drop off centers and recycle centers.

    Thanks for caring.

  9. Hi,

Used batteries can be recycled in Brighton fortnightly with the recycle collection. Just bag them up and put them in your plastic/canvas recycling box for collection with everything else. If your not aware of Brighton’s recycle collection look at Brighton&hove council website to request a box or find out collection dates for your area.

Ink cartridges can be refilled by taking them to a computer shop.

    Hope this helps!

  10. To save the earth use rechargeable batteries so you don’t end up having to worry about the batteries. And the ink cartridges you can bring to Staples and you will get $3.00 off your next perches on your ink cartridge.

  11. All bigger cities have recycling centers. You may check in the Yellow pages or just call your city offices and they should be able to direct you. In addition, there are many businesses that refill ink cartridges, like Walgreens. Office Depot accepts ink cartridges for recycling too. I guess it depends where you live and what businesses do these type of service.

  12. You can take them to any Walgreen drug store and turn them into the photo dept. I would suggest that you purchase rechargable batteries for your wireless mouse. You will save alot of money. They can also refill ink cartridges, once tested, and if in working condition. Another savings. Walgreen’s are everywhere, so check them out. Hope this helps.

  14. You can take the batteries to an electronics store like Radio Shack or Batteries Plus. Some charities recycle ink cartridges. My church has a collection box for them. Some of the stationary stores will take them and give you a discount on new ones. Check Office Max, Office Depot, and Staples in your area.

  15. You can take your empty ink cartridges to walgreens or cvs they will dispose of them for you to recycle, also you can take your batteries to your local Radio Shack or equilivent and they will do the same.

  16. you can take ur old dell lexmark or hp ink cartridges back to staples and get 3 dollars a peice for them if u have a rewards card it’s free and u can return 3 a day so u can get lots of money back for returning them.. they will also recylce ur batteries for free too.
