How can I make my Vermont Milk farm more Green, Cost-effective, and Profitable using Green Tech and Resoures?
I have a 300+ Cow Milk Farm for cheese production. I’ve been thinking about trying to recycle the Manure for methane fuel and maybe packaging up some as organic fertilizer. Also, I am interested in placing up some solar panel arrays and exploring any other new Green Tech and Resources out there. Am very interested but don’t know where to start.
If you pick up a copy of green farming you will see an add about a dairy that just did that. Also ANFO is a dairy products co. But has great info on those topics. I would love to know more about your cheese.
How about some wind power? Windmills and farms go together well.
Move it south – it doesn’t freeze up and turn so brown the further south you go (’till you pass the equator).
Yes, methane recycling is a huge producer of electricity.
Look at solar panels and wind generation units depending on what your zoning laws will allow.
Look into water sisterns to collect rainwater for cleaning stalls and equipment as well as possibly for the cows water supply
If you need to heat the barn, you will be best served through a wood/corn burner or geothermal heating.
