Global warming people: how much Co2 and would you say is being emitted by the Icelandic volcano?

Global warming scientists: how much Co2 and would you say is being emitted by the Icelandic volcano and how much global warming/climate change is it causing?

  1. This eruption will end up cooling the earth by a few degrees for the next 3-4 years. The atmospheric aerosols that are released will end up blocking out more sunlight, causing a global dimming. Also, these aerosols can be used as cloud condensation nuclei, allowing more clouds to be created to reflect solar radiation. Expect cooler global temperatures for a few years due to this volcano.

  2. I think I’m afraid now…………maybe not.

  3. More CO2 than all humans in history combined. It never ceases to amuse me how ignorant the warmers are when they still think that humans can affect the climate. The hoaxers will say it isn’t causing any global warming because they can’t tax volcanos.

  4. omg! millions of tons!

  5. human’s produce 10,000 times the amount of greenhouse gases that all the volcanoes on earth produce.

not making that up its what a geology prof from colgate university said.

  6. very little. really.

"while 200 million tonnes of (volcanic) CO2 is large, the global fossil fuel CO2 emissions for 2003 tipped the scales at 26.8 billion tonnes. Thus, not only does volcanic CO2 not dwarf that of human activity, it actually comprises less than 1 percent of that value. "

compared to cars and trucks — almost none.
    get over it.

  7. It’s releasing more sulfur dioxide into the air than human beings could if we worked really hard at it.

  8. It’s too early to say. The Mount Pinatubo eruption in 1991 (the second-largest eruption in the 20th century) released about 10 gigatons of stuff, a small fraction of it being CO2.

In comparison, humans emit about 30 gigatons of CO2 per year.

So the Iceland eruption will be a small fraction of annual human CO2 emissions – equivalent to a few days of human worldwide emissions. It won’t cause much warming.

As others have noted, volcanoes cause a short-term cooling effect by blocking sunlight. However, the sulfur dioxide washes out of the atmosphere in about 2 years. Pinatubo caused about a 0.2–0.4°C cooling effect from 1991–1993.

  9. Volcanos typically cause more cooling than they do warming, through the haze effect.

The Mt Pinatubo eruption in 1991 caused cooling of 1 degree C worldwide over two years.

  10. Not enough
