I mean they studied physics not climate, but some seem to think they are climate experts and continue spreading their ignorance. Why?

Do they now? Never heard of even one doing that – speaking about climate – but the maybe I don’t watch enough TV.

They are infinitely more qualified than the right wing political pundits that seem to be the primary source of information for deniers.

i am not aware of many physicists that speak on climate change or publish much… but this is because most of the good scientists that are really good with climate change have a B.S. in physics, then a M.S. or Ph.D in something else more specific.
climate change and the weather do involve physics a lot though. climate change is the study of things colliding at different rates, weather its energy, particles in wind, or just temperature. weather is really just a sub-field in physics

Order of knowledge on climate studies would be in order:
Geologists’
Meteorologists
Oceanographers
Physicists would probably be down with football and basket ball coaches in understanding of how weather and climate function.

Anyone is allowed to refute the work of any scientist. If you find a paper by a physicist to be incorrect, then refute it.

Climatologists have PHd’s in Physics. What is your point exactly?
Scientists are just people and can be asked to produce a specific set of results or lose their position.
Why is this so difficult for people who don’t realize the corruption in our oligarchical political system to comprehend?

Climate science is based on physics, an understanding of physics is fundamental in understanding climate science. Hence why some climate scientists have degrees in physics.
That said, climate science itself is done by climate scientists. On here, I’m not aware of any physicists claiming to know more than the climate scientists like James E (for example) does.

Some physicists are climate scientists, most are not. A knowledge of physics is absolutely necessary for understanding the workings of climate.
I don’t think it’s physicists spreading their ignorance, it’s people that don’t know physics or climate (deniers are a good example of this) that are spreading ignorance. Actually not just ignorance, but plain stupidity.
James E’s answer is ridiculously off the mark. As someone who has studied all the fields he mentioned at the graduate level, I can assure you that physics is essential. If anyone thinks that physics is NOT essential to climate science, I’m pretty sure they don’t know either field.
