3 reasons why it has been difficult for US government to tackle climate change?

  1. 1. Governments can’t affect climate.

    2. Governments can’t affect climate.

    3. Governments can’t affect climate.

  2. "Tackle climate change"??

    That’s kinda like tackling Moonlight.

Earth’s climate has warmed and it has cooled many times over many millions of years….. with and without…. Man.

There is absolutely no credible, honest, unmanipulated data that supports the notion of catastrophic, man-caused global warming…… NONE!

  3. A conservative political agenda founded on lies; a disinterested public; and stupidity on a societal scale.

  4. 1. Public opinion is swayed by powerful groups. This is similar to how long it took to beleive tobacco was linked to cancer. Scientists maybe right, but they are a very small minority of voters.

    2. The fossil fuel industry is more powerful ayt lobbying than new renewable industry. Tey buy a lot of politicians, including foreign governments.

    3. nobody wants to change unless they really, really have to. (unfortunately, it will take at least 20-50 years to get off coal and oil)> In the US in particular, there is distrust of government.

Generally, follow the money. Witness what California is doing compared to Kentuky when there is coal.

  5. Ghosts are difficult to banish.
So much research, so little proof.
To fix the climate (that isn’t broken) first you must wreck the fossil fuel based economy.

  6. 1) No government could possibly change the climate of the earth.

    2) The American people have better things to do.

    3) Those who want to tackle "climate change" tell lies.

  7. Because it’s a scam and the smart politicians don’t want to get attached to it.
Even if it was true the cost of the proposed solutions are greater than the benefits.

  8. 1) One of the two major political parties (Republicans) does not support Cap and Tax as a viable solution to Climate Change. Republicans are increasingly realizing that climate change may or may not even be a problem.

    2) The media has done a terrible job covering climate science, and as a result the public is misinformed on the cause, results and incidence that are a result of climate change. To many outrageous claims are being touted as reality without any factual support or even in the face of opposing factual support. Linking these events as man induced climate change events is probably the worst part about the whole issue. Ask someone on the street who believes in AGW and you’ll get a myriad of real world events that the media has been perpetuating as problems associated with global warming. These issues involve the same periodic weather patterns occurring as they have for centuries, human conflict that has existed for decades – centuries, poor choices of creating a settlement when switching from a nomadic existence, views of instances with blinders on (drowning polar bear), attribute choice of a profession that is said to be the oldest in the world with climate change.

    3) The science isn’t that difficult to explain but instead of explainations we are presented with statements of facts with only simple explaination and no real substance, CO2 is like a blanket. We are shown and told one thing only to find out what we were originally shown and told was someones biased veiw that they felt wouldn’t be as dramatic or supportive if presented factually. CO2 lags temperature rise and Temperature fall lags CO2 fall. When mistakes are made they are minimalized as unimportant, instead of saying given this new information we need to analyse the full impact on our calculations. It’s just thrown out there as some minor mistake which doesn’t have any impact on the final outcome. I may not be a climate scientist but when someone says we’ve overestimated the melting of ice by double, but it’s ok because that means we simply underestimated expansion of the oceans, the final value is still the same. I know it’s not that simple, there are more factors in sea level rise than how much ice is melting and how much the ocean is expanding, what about the reason the melting was miscalculated in the first place, what is the value of water displaced from postglacial rebound? Rediculous counter arguments are made that have no bearing on the issue, CO2 is such a small portion of the atmosphere is countered by, Cyanide in small doses will kill you. What about the little ice age, oh that never happened, there were just a serious of regional glacial advancements that were totally unrelated to each other for a 3 to 4 hundred year period. The medieval warm period? Never happened, just another regional event lasting hundreds of years and only effecting europe.

  9. 1) One of the two major political parties (Republicans) has no interest in addressing climate change. In fact, Republicans are increasingly denying that climate change is even a problem. Out of all the Republican contenders for the Senate in 2010, none support action on climate change, and most deny the existence of anthropogenic global warming.

    2) The media has done a terrible job covering climate science, and as a result the public is very poorly informed and often misinformed about the science. When the public doesn’t understand the science, it’s hard to make them understand that climate change is a problem we need to address.

    3) The economy is in the crapper. The public is much more concerned about creating jobs and fixing the economy, and as a result climate change has been put on the backburner.

  10. 1) Because Global Warming was proven to be fake, Climate Change is a scam, and the people who cast their votes or make decisions have finally caught on.

    2) Because anyone with a brain is on the internet and has cottoned on to the concept that green is the new red. They will use anything, even the environment, to tax or take away your rights and freedoms.

    3) Because the entire idea of a government run by humans like Al Gore who can’t even control his personal "urges" running or controlling the world’s weather is preposterous. How much money has that bastard made selling "green credits" based on his silly theory?! China is still getting a free pass on polluting the entire planet while Americans are regulated on what kind of toilet or light bulbs they use? WTF?!

That’s why. Because we trust the lying POSs in charge about as far as we can throw them— which is none too far.

  11. 1) They are not going to do anything to further destroy the manufacturing base based on what is becoming more illogical science.
    2) The Companies in the United States are already addressing this issue.
    3) The AGW supports ignore the steps being taken as not enough or are not what they want.
