Pretend the world has run out of fossil fuels and you were the one who had to choose an alternative energy source.

Hydro would be the first choice. It is already a proven technology. Lots of micro hydro plants could be built on every fast moving stream and rivers. Of course environmentalist won’t like it.
Alcohol fuels would be good to keep the cars running.
Solar- clean
Wind is useless as existing wind farms run only about 20% of the time, so we sit in the dark the other 80%.

1. Wind
2. Bio fuel
3. Solar
1. Free
2. Less dependence on foreign oil, less greenhouse gas output
3. Sunshine is free.

1. wind (no side effects, minimum footprint for windmill.)
2. Solar panel ( same)
3. Hydrogen fuel cells ( only emissions are water and electricity)
the problem with bio-fuel is that you need to destroy natural habitat to make room to grow crops to make the fuel out of, and the emissions aren’t significantly lower than conventional fossil fuels.
The problems with hybrid cars are that it takes more energy to create one, than the car saves, and they strip mine rain-forests to get the metals to make the batteries out of.

hemp oil. it was used to power all the model t fords in the 20′s. but than the govt stepped in when they discovered they could profit more off of fossil fuels.
